Tracie and I apparently need to stay out of the kitchen. It has become a war zone in there, and we ain’t winning.

Last Thursday night I was making spaghetti and when I started to prepare the noodles, I turned on the back burner instead of the front and realized it when the cord to my toaster went up in flames.

(yes the toaster cord was too close to the burner, so bye bye toaster cord!)

So now I have to replace the cord, which looks easy to do. That is unless the cord costs more than a toaster, then we just get a whole new toaster! Or someone buys me a new one for Valentines Day! How romantic!

Then Tracie calls me and said she blew up her oven. Literally. BOOM!!!

Story (condensed verson) is she had the oven on, was in the living room when she heard a loud explosion and goes in to find the oven heating element split in 2, sparks flying, and her thinking she is about to burn her house down. She got it turned off and well now she cant cook/bake anything at her house. So tonight we are taking the boys (Nathan and Christian) for Subway and to go run their little legs off at the park, while we figure out when it is safe for us to go in the kitchen again.

No winner winner, no chicken dinner.

That song has been blowing up my cell phone all freaking day, all freaking week actually

All because my former fiancee has that ringtone on my phone, it describes him perfectly;

Hey I’m a Country Man

A city boy can’t do the things I can

I can grow my own groceries and salt cure a ham

Hey baby i’m a Country Man”

The whole song is Jason to a T. Tonight we are going to dinner and he says he has a surprise for me. The clues are vague at best, all I have gotten so far is he had to plan a way to get it to the restaurant, it is live (a greased pig? Fungus?) and now the last clue was “it’s 6 inches”

By the way get your mind out of the gutter on that last clue.

With Jason you just never know what he has up his sleeve. The first surprise I ever got from him involved a call at work that said “Be careful when you get home”. Then there was a note on the door saying my air conditioning was on. I was confused as heck.

I walked in the door and found a trail of astromerias (my favorite flower) from the door, through the living room, through the kitchen, down the hall, to my bedroom.

There at the end was a vase full of more flowers, a Maya Angelou card, and a bottle of Ralph Lauren perfume.

Several weeks later he proposed to me at my desk at work, down on one knee with the ring inside a huge white flower.

When I had a particularly bad day at work I got a candlelit bath with the best sweet tea ever that only he can make, and flowers floating in the water.

Oh also he said not to wear mascara tonight, I will cry.

Welcome to 2009

It has been awhile, sorry life happens ya know?

Here is the latest going’s on in this (red)neck part of the woods.

Still single, many are taking numbers, but vast majority don’t make it past hello. Including the Buncome County cop who has more issues than a news stand.

Nathan dealt with some pains in this leg over the last couple of weeks that required 2 trips to the doctor, an x-ray, and a blood draw (that mommy nearly passed out with) all to find out that he most likely just pulled a muscle in his hip/thigh. But when a doctor starts rattling off diseases and conditions that you cannot even spell, to go through all that only to have a pulled muscle, you are thankful.

Sadly we have a democratic president and the darn Steelers won a Super Bowl AGAIN, this is not looking like a good year.

Welcome 2009, now someone pass me a Midol and a Strawberry Daquri.

I have discovered the glorious world of online shopping with coupon codes.

Not only do I do it from the comfort of the office, but therefore avoid the insanity that Christmas shopping has become. Seriously the day that some poor man is trampled to death because 2000+ people forget the real meaning of Christmas in pursuit of a flat screen television for 60% off is the day I say forget it!

So with a slow office, I online shopped. First I went to elf.com and loved the deals I got there. Now before you think I was off buying makeup for my son, stop! I thought since I doubt I’ll be receiving anything from Santa (not that I have been bad, I just think that eventually the Big Man does eventually have a cut off age for bringing presents, even if you do still believe in him!

Now while the makeup is dirt cheap, it apparently is great stuff. Kelsie ordered some over the summer and both she and Tracie swear by it. So Tracie and I went in together to rack up $30.00 worth of products to get the free shipping. But after doing about 5 minutes of coupon code hunting I found 2 codes I could use together and wound up with a better deal. So got $30 worth for $26.64 (that is including the tax and shipping) SCORE!!!

Next I heaed over to nfl.com to get Nathan his birthday gifts. Again using coupon codes found online I bought for him all New Orleans Saints gear. I got him A hat, a new backpack for school, and a new blanket for his bed.

All together it would have come to nearly $100.00 for all of it, but thanks to sales, I spent only $50.00, including the tax and shipping.

I so rock.

]I know it is tecnically late fall and almost winter, but seriously I am freezing here. I don’t like it. Mainly because it makes it hard to want to go out of the house and drive to work in a car that will not reach a level of warmth that is acceptable until I am nearly 5 minutes down the road. Brr.

I hate to seem so high maintance, because I am really not. Just being cold is one thing I hate. Forgive me for whining about it.

So lets get a weekend update, shall we? Worked all day Saturday with the little office assistant (being Nathan, in case you were wondering) and then went home to the exciting world of Laundry Folding and Putting Away! WOOHOO, please keep your excitment to a minimum.  Sunday was church and lets just say you have not lived until you have had your preacher motovate the crowd to work with teenagers by using a video showing senior citizens in a church choir sing hip hop songs.

When those older church ladies busted out with the “Don’t cha wish your girlfriend was hot like me” I just about lost it.

I don’t care who you are, that’s funny right there.

Major Catch Up!!!!

Sorry peeps, it has been a busy train ride.

First of all the Palin Rally so rocked! It was a great opportunity to see that Asheville is not as “liberal” as I feared, We had a HUGE turn out and the protesters maybe numbered about 20 people, despite what the local media tried to make it look like. It took until nearly 7pm to get inside and that was after standing in line since 2pm! But Nathan and I made it in and gotthisclose to Sarah herself! Too bad the camera took really fuzzy pictures. I swear I really need to either my camera fixed or buy a new one.

Bad news was so idiot broke into our car during the rally and stole Nathan’s PSP game. I was livid! That nice little act of vandalism cost me $170.00 and ruined my budget for the month that I am still trying to recover from.

Work is still that, work. I thas been slow and I do hope that things will pick up soon. Nathan is still doing so well in school and just earned both a West Award and his place on the “A” Honor Roll for this quarter. He was one of only 6 students in the entire 3rd grade to achieve it and on e of only 2 in his class!

Church is going VERY well and I am loving every moment of it. Last night we had “Ladies Chocolate Night” and it was absolutly wonderful. We had chocolate of every shape and kind imaginable! It was a wonderful night of fellowship and fun that I personally think we should have more than once a year (Jodi, hint hint!)

So now Christmas is coming and I have to budget for that and Nathan’s birthday! We had originally planned for a birthday party at Western Carolina Unversity with the Men’s Basketball team (party in a hospitality room at the Ramsey Center followed by a game) but the soon-to-be 9 year old all of sudden nixed that idea after a week of planning and is now wanting to just go to movies with friends. I swear by the time his birthday actually rolls around it will be completly different, but you know with being a mom you just have to go with it.

As for Christmas, all he wants is New Orleans Saints stuff and Indiana Jones toys. Better start shopping soon, as I just realized that Christmas is only 35 days away!

Ugg.

Oh, be still my beating Republican heart!

Last night on the news it was announced that Govenor Palin will be making a campaign stop in Asheville on Sunday, I just about snarfed my sweet tea all over myself.

Bonus was that tickets to the rally would be distributed in Asheville, Hickory, someplace I don’t remember, and BRYSON CITY! (ahem my town!)

So I started calling the GOP office at 8am and for every 10 minutes afterwards until finally i got someone at 9:50am and asked, begged, PLEADED if there was any tickets I could get my hands on. The person on the other end asked my name and when I told them they recognized the name (I have been down there a few times) and said they would call me back to see if they could get tickets held for me, as they were on a first come, first served basis.

(oh please Lord, please let me get tickets!)

I got the call at 2:09pm that there is 2 tickets waiting for me at the GOP office! YEEHAW!!!!!!!

Bonus is that according to the McCain website that Gretchen Wilson is also attending the rally and according to my boss, rumor is that Elizabeth Hasselbeck from “The View” is also attending!

Glory!!!

It’s midweek and just 2 more days until I have cash in the pocket again, WOOHOO!!

I have been taking a finance class at church for the last 3 weeks and I am loving it. It is Financial Peace University by Dave Ramsey and I am learning so much. Finances have always scared me and so taking this class was just as scary! But I am loving what I have learned and really feel more in control of my money. Infact I am really excited to put away my first bit of savings this week! I am setting a goal of 10% of ever paycheck to got into the savings. I am hpoing with steady paychecks and cutting back on as much as possible we can have my emergency fund and 3-6 months of monthly income put away within a year, sooner if possible.

Also I am trying to be a better parent and teach Nathan more about his spending and saving. His duty is now to do 5 chores a week that earn him money. This will not include cleaning his room, but extra things he can do to earn not an “allowance”, but a “commission”. His first goal is to earn the monry to go see a movie with Chase in 2 weeks. If he doesn’t earn the money, or spends it before the 7th (when the movie comes out) he does not get to go. We will see how it goes!

I got my bill from the hospital for my little Emergency Room visit 2 weeks ago for that darn sinus infection, and surprizingly it was not as bad as I anticipated, only about 50 dollars that I owe. Thank God for that!

I have also be goal setting for my big trip to Textures to have Greg do my first professional hair coloring. I have been doing it myself for years and never was 100% satisfied with it. Plus this is my offical “I am getting divorced!” treat to myself. Plus I am going darker, forget the blond, I am over it!

So I have been debating between 2 colors, but up for suggestions. This is what I am going for so far:

or

Better catch up.

I am blogging again.

The last year was difficult and I really didn’t want to blog at all, but i am coming back to all of you and staring again what I didn’t get to finish.

First of all, Andrew and I seperated and getting a divorce. Long story short I caught him red handed and kicked him to the curb. If I wanted drama, I would have become a soap opera actress.

Nathan and I moved and he is rocking the 3rd grade this year. At the end of second grade he had accomplished Honor Roll 3 of the 4 quarters of the year. I took him to his first concert in June to see Carrie Underwood and Jason Michael Carroll in Greenville, SC. He fell in love with Ms. Underwood.

Last month we went to Louisiana and he got to see where we lived at Ft. Polk. Sadly he didn’t remember any of it.

I began a great new career. I am a office manager for a modular home company. It rocks!

So stop in and say hello friends

Plans for the weekend includes meeting up with my church group and going to Darnell Farms for hayrides and pumpkins Saturday morning. After that the laundry needs to get done, I have 6 loads of it staring at me from the laundry closet. It piled up during the sick-fest Nathan and I had last week. He had the dreaded stomach bug and I got a horrid sinus infection that is still hanging around.

Have a blessed weekend!

Retail therapy

Last night I trekked down to Asheville with the crew for Christmas shopping. It was just what the doctor ordered!

Most definatly helped along by the fact that by Thursday afternoon my bank account balance had grown significantly thanks to a nice check from Dad’s estate lawyer, DFAS, and Mom’s early Chrtistmas gift. WOOPOW!

So I had hit up Walmart earlier in the day to pick up a battery for the camera I had forgotten I still owned. Then I spotted a killer sale and loaded up. Then on to the mall where I managed to purchase about $200.00+ worth of clothing for less than $50.00 !!!!!! I have a gorgeous dress for Tracie’s graduation and new stuff for the body that is shrinking before my mirror.

Some people suffer in the aftermath of a seperation, but apparently my body loves it. Between that and the horrid cold I had 2 weeks ago, I have dropped 10 pounds as of yesterday. I was pretty excited already when I realized it. Then I ran into an old boyfriend at Wal-Mart  yesterday who said (and I quote) “Damn girl, you are smokin’!”

This weekend will be so busy with activities, cleaning house, and completing that darn make up test for tax class. But God is really showing me that He is in control and life is getting good again.

Thank you God.
